A long overdue post...

Dear Fellow Readers,

Thank you for your patience. I know that our loyal followers have been eagerly awaiting pictures and updates of Kate. It has been a helluva 3 weeks here in the Cothran household. Our pictures start here Kate's birthday. We had fun celebrating Kate twice this month! We had her birthday party, "Cupcakes & Cocktails" here at the house on the 11th. It was insane getting ready for it because it was my first week of school, but we pulled it off and everyone had a great time. That same weekend, Mike and I went to Charlottesville to watch the TCU game. Go FROGS! This was my first night away from Kate and I enjoyed myself thoroughly! Allison and her two friends, Shannon & Elizabeth flew in for the game that weekend and were also able to be here for Kate's party. Mimi and Chip also were here to celebrate and they had a great weekend watching Kate while we were away. After another crazy week of school, we then flew home for my 10 year high school reunion. I had the joyous job of planning it, but did not do it alone. You will see from my pictures that I had a great group helping A LOT! We are glad that is over! It was fun, but another thing to check off. During our quick weekend in Texas, Kate had another party at Linny and Grandpa's house. She enjoyed her cake more this time than at her party. She cried when she had her cupcake and instead fed most of it to her Daddy :). She liked sticking her fingers and toes in the cake and had a lot of fun, we did too!

Its hard to believe that our Baby Kate is a year old now. I can remember every detail of my delivery with her (not sure that's a good thing... :)) and find that it amazing that we are already a year down the road from that crazy day of September 17, 2008. Here is a quick synopsis of our Kate:
Labor: Born on her due date; 20 hours for mom and Kate came finally came into the world!
Weight: 8 1bs. 1 oz and 20 inches long (75 % percentile for both)
Weight now: 19 lbs 8 oz and 28 inches long (20% height and 25% for weight..our chunky girl is no longer chunky)
Nicknames: Baby Kate, munchkin, munchie roo and munch
Sleep: She started consistantly sleeping thru the night around 6 months. Our dr. said she was ready to cry it out at 4 1/2 months, and said it would only take 3 nights. After 5 weeks of the poor child crying, we stopped this and she then did it on her own. We knew then what a hard-headed child we had created! She sleeps great now. Around 12-13 hours a night and if she's having a good day, a 2 hour nap at daycare. AM naps aren't so great there, but we're still trying to get one in on the weekends.
First Words: Dada at 11 1/2 months and Mama on the day of her bday party
Food: She has always loved to eat! She was a great nurser, loved the bottle once she finally decided to take it and loved food after her aversion to rice cereal. Her favorites are any fruit, yogurt, peas, toast & hummus and many more.
Movement: She is crawling, pulling up, cruising and will walk behind a push toy some.
Her favorites: Her paci, she requires two in her crib, one to hold and one in her mouth. She only uses them at night really though. Music is a fav and so is dancing to it. She loves books and if that was her only source of entertainment, she would be satisfied. Tucker is a huge favorite of hers and he never ceases to make her laugh.
Her downfalls: Kate is stubborn and a drama queen so this creates some hard behaviors to deal with sometimes. Exhibit A: She went through a stage at daycare a few weeks where she refused to drink anything from them at all, but would drink for me when I picked her up..that was fun! Exhibit B: She is already having tantrums!.! Exhibit C: She is not taking too well to milk, but we're trying. And Exhibit D: She screams really loudly now with the bath tub..this is a new thing and I'm thinking one of us will have to bathe with her till she outgrows this!

Kate is the light of our lives! We pray every day for her safety and her health and her happiness. We thank God for bringing her into our lives and look forward to whatever the future holds.

Her birthday present from us...so fun!
Feeding her Daddy the cupcake
After tears, she decided to try this

Happy Birthday Baby Kate!
Highstepper reunion lunch
Mike should have gotten an award for working so hard at the reunion that night. He took pictures, chased people down for sneaking in and stayed till the end. He had fun, I think...
My group of girls that saved the day! Minus a few!

MK-hope school is going well and glad to see you all had such a great time at the UVa-TCU game! Sorry we missed Kate's party but it looks like you all had a great time! I can't believe she's already 1. :) Jules was also an early temper-tantrum kid and unfortunately age hasn't helped too much. However, she was also terrified of the bath around her 1st birthday and now LOVES them. Hope to see you all and catch-up sometime soon! Love, Meg
