***Kate weighed 8lbs 1 oz and was 20 in. long arriving on her due date. He arrived 2 days shy of his due date. Crazy how similar!!
Here I am 2 1/2 weeks later, finally announcing my son's arrival...oh the joy of being the 2nd child! :) I'm a 2nd child though and a middle one at that, and I turned out okay, well sort-of... :)
William Pate arrived in a whirlwind the night of the 26th. I was scheduled to be induced at 8 am on the 27th, but had hoped all along that I might go on my own and that I did. After some mild contractions that go a lot worse really fast, William was born 50 minutes after arriving at the hospital. After Kate's very long trip into the world, it was a breath of fresh air to have him here so quickly. Let's just say if that I hadn't had drugs in time though, I might be rephrasing that last sentence! We were so happy to see that head full of hair and this precious boy and we finally decided on his name right then.
Kate met her baby brother the next morning and she was all smiles when she walked into our room. She was so curious and interested in him from the get-go, but her first question was to me, 'Can you hold me now?' Oh Kate, how she still loves to be held and I hadn't been able to do that in the last few weeks. Poor girl, she doesn't know that her days of being carried are fewer and fewer.
Coming home has been relatively smooth, but its definitely had some tense moments as we learn to "share" mommy and daddy. William is quite a sport though and has proved to be a patient soul. Thank you God! :)
Thank you grandparents for all your help, cooking and cleaning that you did over the past couple of weeks. We are very grateful. We are also very thankful to God for this joyous blessing and for a healthy baby boy above all.
